SAM Meeting Minutes 11-9-08

1.    SAMs stuffed Care Package letters to parents (8pm - 8:25pm)
2.    Andrew Carraway (baseball) /Nick Meros (m tennis) - Game Night
a.    Event descriptions (8 challenges)
b.    Team logistics (4 people per team, each compete in 2)
c.    Team winner gets name on Plaque in Life Skills Office
d.    Games starts at 7, T-shirts right away, Pizza, 7:30 competition start time
e.    Mandatory Fun!!!!
f.    Point SAMs stay after to help clean up and arrive early to (g)
g.    Help set up for your sport’s event
3.    Alcohol Awareness Week:
a.    November 16th-November 22
b.    SAMs are planning to distribute free waters and cards on the Corner (9pm – midnight on Tuesday 18th, Thursday 20th:)
i.    Look for a Doodle sign up for shifts
ii.    Cards will talk about PUBS and Yellow Cab
iii.    Two spots, Little John’s, Bodo’s
iv.    Ryan Hurley (m swimming):  PLEASE discourage ALL teammates and friends from Fourth Year Fifth participation.
c.    Ashley Crockett (CASE) will find out if ADAPT/Class Trustees looking for SAMs to hand out water at Football game? [word from CASE on Monday is they are not]
d.    Upcoming Presentation Opportunities - (Times and locations confirmed via email & on Life Skills Webpage)
i.    Susan Grossman Memorial Talk, Tuesday the 18th
ii.    Anti-hazing movie: HAZE Thursday 22nd
iii.    Hoos in Recovery Panel, Thursday 22nd
4.     Hospital Visits Monday and Thursday groups at 12:30
a.    Pete Ferrara (wrestling) leads Thursdays, Kelly Quinn leads Monday groups (contact either of them)
b.    Primary rules are: you can’t be sick, wear jeans, hats, or sandals; UVA gear IS allowed
5.    POINT SAMs met with Andrew Carraway to discuss Game Night preparation.
