SAAC Meeting Minutes 11-9-08

II. SAAC Santa Fund Donations –Vice President Jerome Meyinsse (m basketball)
-Passed out the envelopes for collecting / to be returned by Dec. 8 to next SAAC Meeting or to Life Skills Office
-Minimum goal to collect $1 per athlete
-Santa Fund is a charity organized by Daily Progress to provide winter clothing
for area disadvantaged children.
III. ACC SAAC Legislation review and tally- President Catherine Chambers (w lacrosse)     see below.
IV. Bike Racks-Secretary Trey Miller (m cross country)
- Needed outside Cage/ATR maybe JPJ
V. Pres. Chambers reported on the Athletics Advisory Committee Meeting
-Budget issues
-Indoor Practice Facility concept Approved
-Student Athlete image and actions
-Consistency across sports for equal team punishments
-Solicited ideas for additions to VAF Athletics Annual Report
VII. Cage Cleaning- Billie-Jo Grant (w track& field) noted that it had been cleaned and reported that Facilities was very responsive;
VI. Introductions/Team Issues/updates- Pres. Chambers asked for any concerns or ideas
from teams: None was offered.
V. Compliance- Craig Anderson (Director of Compliance)
-Get in touch with Angel Cavanaugh for Opportunity Fund info
VII. SAM Update-VP Meyinsse reported on upcoming SAM events/project:
-Alcohol Awareness Week beginning Nov. 16 – Nov. 22 (football v Clemson)
-Game Night is Tuesday, Nov. 11
-Game night t-shirt color is white- Mark Wade (m lacrosse) inquired
VIII. SAAC meeting schedule-Pres. Chambers asked if the SAAC meets often enough:
-Some thought that there could be additional meetings only on occasion that the
SAAC Exec sees necessary
IX. Student athlete behavior at programs/meetings needs to be appropriate-Pres.
Chambers; noted Softball’s example of exemplary behavior;
X. Gray Carrington Memorial Scholarship nominees due to Lawn Room 47- Pres.
Chambers
